Another Accident - September 5th
I'm sitting in my living room listening to the mosque sing. Yesterday was my orientation for school and it was quite a day. If you refer to the map, the Arabic Language Institute, located on Tahrir Square, is on the other side of the island and to the south of Aguza, where I live. The landlord showed up 5 minutes before I was suppose to leave and she was trying to communicate something to me - your guess is as good as mine. When I finally pacified her, I ran to 26th of July Street where I caught a cab. I told him Tahrir Square and he acted like he understood, so I climbed in only to discover he didn't understand me. He started yelling at me to talk Arabic while we were on the bridge over the Nile - you can imagine how that conversation went. He let me out on Zamalek Island. Frantic, I stopped a woman who looked like she spoke English (meaning she looked like a wealthy university student), which she did, and she told a new cab driver where to bring me. As fate would have it, this cab driver got into an accident downtown! I can't believe 2 accidents in two weeks! It wasn't major, but my cab driver began aggressively pursuing the other car, while screaming and shaking his fist in the air. Are tensions high because elections are tomorrow?
